Another location found on New York Times’ list of 50 Places to Go in 2014 makes it as my destination of choice for this week, and it’s easy to see why. From Yogyakarta, you can find easy access to a multitude of breathtaking monuments and attractions. Wake up early to take a hike to the top of Mount Merapi, one of Indonesia’s coolest volcanoes, for a serene view of an Indonesian sunrise. Snap pictures of the exquisite architecture seen in the Buddhist temple Borobudur and the Hindu shrines of Prambanan. Peruse the Ullen Sentalu Museum, a Javanese culture and art museum located in the highlands and find yourself immersed amongst relics and artifacts from ancient Javanese royalty. From now through 2015 the area will be seeing the opening of 20 new hotels, some more pricey than others, in addition to the 30 that currently exist making the place more diverse and easy for tourist access.
